The clinical practice of American students at the Maria Beatrice Center is coordinated by university professor Dr. Heather Miller-Kuhaneck, PhD, OTR/L, and clinical assistant professor, Ellen M. Martino, OTD, OTR/L, NDT instructor – both from the same American university, Sacred Heart, Department of Occupational Therapy, mentor Mirela-Carmen Burllău, TO, FKT, vice-president of APTOR (Association of Occupational Therapists in Romania) and Liliana Vidican, TO, Psychopedagogue APTOR.

In the 5 internships so far:

20 students from the American University, totaled 450 hours of practical learning at the Maria Beatrice Center

45 children beneficiaries of the Maria Beatrice Center were observed in therapy and evaluated by the 2 university professors, mentors of the students from the USA, observation sheets and therapeutic recommendations were drawn up for them.

Over 400 of students, master’s students, occupational therapists, special education teachers, participated in courses and webinars, including 60 studentssfromOccupationalTherapy from Oxford Brookes University in Great Britain, together with Dr. Carmen Liana Nagy (PhD.) Senior Lecturer, Occupational Therapy, MSc Subject Coordinator, Oxford Brookes University, Faculty of Health and Life Sciences.

Within the “Global Health Program” at the Maria Beatrice Center, the clinical learning internship is held annually for a group of American students from Sacred Heart University, Fairfield, Connecticut, USA”, who are in their last year of occupational therapy studies, funded program by American University.
